What have we accomplished?
Bringing Progress and Positive Change
As a City Council member, I have led and supported various projects that have significantly improved the lives of Beaumont residents. One of my top priorities has been public safety. We secured high water rescue vehicles, negotiated a police contract to ensure we have the most qualified officers serving our citizens, and supported the fire pension increase.
I am committed to improving the quality of life for Beaumont residents. I hosted a vision workshop that led to an increase in parks budget, secured additional funding through partnerships, and advocated for a fair minimum wage increase. In addition, I initiated the movement for new and updated basketball courts, new park equipment, and park bench replacements.
I strongly believe in youth engagement and have taken various initiatives such as hosting a Youth Talent Show, creating a Youth Council, partnering with the community for basketball fundraisers, and volunteering at schools in BISD.
Transparency is key in any government, and I advocated for the creation of a communications department to bridge the gap between citizens and City Government. We also increased community engagement on downtown plans, created QR codes on city buses and facilities for better advertising, and helped create and attend various neighborhood associations throughout the community.
Infrastructure is another area of focus for me. We invested in sewer, drainage, and street rehab, prioritizing neighborhoods heavily impacted by natural disasters. We invested the most-ever in Beaumont history for sewer and drainage, and millions of dollars for street rehab.
I am committed to economic development, and we have successfully attracted major businesses such as Main Event, Pour 09, and Suite C Event Lounge. We secured a grocery store in the North End, which is considered a food desert.
Finally, we have enhanced events such as 4th of July, Oktoberfest, Christmas Tree Lighting, Mardi Gras, Juneteenth, Cinco De Mayo Taco Fest, and Mural Fest by increasing the budget for Juneteenth and pushing for better engagement with the community.
Through my leadership and hard work, I have made a significant impact on the community, and I am committed to continuing this work with your support.
